hello all member"microsoft access vs microsoft sql server"|||"microsoft access vs microsoft sql server"
??|||Coo - this thread shows 6 replies and was started by faik2307.

Perhaps deuansavanh it would be a good idea to start a new thread and please give some idea of how you want to compare between SQL Server and Access (what are your needs?). I don't believe there are that many circumstances where there is really much of a decision to make - they are totally different beasts.

HTH|||??:confused:And how did you post that?|||And how did you post that?

I was  .Bcoz ...

Point 1> this thread shows 6 replies and was started by faik2307
Point 2> 'hello all member' - there is a seperate introduction section in this forum. So why this is here?
Point 3> microsoft access vs microsoft sql server" - this string doesn't implies any '?' sign so it can be a topic. If so, no details is there.Thats very ridiculous.
Point 4> There is no clue to help him|||Lol - sorry Joydeep. I meant how did DBF allow you to to post "??"

I am currently obsessed (as DBF regulars will know) with the 10 char post limit. I am pretty sure the quotes don't count towards the 10.

Sorry Pootie, its my fault, I completely misjudged that one.I saw those bowlings in the Yak Corral.
:D|||I'd say that in a street fight Access hands down.
Because of its tenacity, and it is very sinewy.
But in the octagon, the squared circle or when using the sweet science I'd give the edge to Sql Server. Has better training and can use its experience and power to over come the scrappiness of access. Also has better mass appeal better storyline.

:)|||And don't forget, when ranked alphabetically Access beats all other commercially available databases.|||I like them both working together as an ADP personally. Cause I have foudn that if too many people log onto access they get locked out but with SQL running the show and access as the GUI it works great. And thats just one reason, why I like them both ehhehe|||"microsoft access vs microsoft sql server"
I would have to say "Yes"|||this kind of like comparing your local high school football team and the New England Patriots.|||this kind of like comparing your local high school football team and the New England Patriots. It is if the poster is really asking for a comparison of JET and SQL Server (which is likely). If not then it is like comparing Australia's swimming team and the product line of General Motors. Hence my statement that it depends what the metrics for the camparison are - usually, once these are known, the choice is clear.|||this kind of like comparing your local high school football team and the New England Patriots.

mmmmm... cheerleaders|||I like them both working together as an ADP personally. Cause I have found that if too many people log onto access they get locked out but with SQL running the show and access as the GUI it works great. And thats just one reason, why I like them both ehhehes'up Dez? :)

I have found through bitter experience that though it may seem it on the surface, it's never a good idea to put Access and SQL Server together. Unless you have a VERY short-term project, and/or are going to be watchful and ever-present while the two paradigms (paradie?) are working side-by-side.

If you turn your back, like Daddy with two small toddlers in the back seat of the '72 Country Squire with mag wheels, a 351 Cleveland, and sidepipes toolin' down the road toward Yellowstone for a week...you will find the two sneaking swats at each other, poking each other in the ribcage, and...if your back is turned a sufficient period of time, sneaking in an out-and-out SLAP at each other.

Because they are Microsoft siblings, Access and SQL Server may ACT like they work well together, it is my firm and experience-supported position that they will never get along with each other.

At best you will have odd noises, hateful glances, and suspicious bruises that neither will own up to.

At worse, you will have out-and-out, knock-down, drag-out screaming matches, fights resulting in damaged data, broken dependencies, scrambled indexes, and a sore backhand muscle. And damned if you won't actually have to "pull this wagon over and take the both of you over my knee!"|||GOOD GRAVY cowboy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Your probably right I have only really encountered some issues with Access 2000 now 2003 seems more corporative.

THAT WAS TOO FUNNY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
