Microsoft Feedback Center: Available?

I've been trying to get to the MSDN Product Feedback Center to report a bug
in SQL Server 2005 Management Studio. I'm getting an Error when I try to
reach the site - msdn.microsoft.com/feedback - Is it available?
"An error has occurred during the processing of your request. Please try
again later. "
Persistence pays off. I got in with the menu at the top of Management Studio
with Community-Send Feedback.

I've read the following statement on

statement was uttered concerning the creation of a large amount (ca. 200)
sharepoint-websites with stsadm -o CreateSiteInNewDb)
Can anyone confirm this or would you guys say, that there shouldn't be any
problems with about 200 databases in an MSSQL-Server (with each database
containing about 10MB upto 1GB).
I'd appreciate any help!

above therefore it'd be interesting if anybody has infos about this special

No problem. I have close to 190 most at or over 100MB with a couple topping
2GB.

|||The real limit is on the number of concurrently open databases, and if I
remember correctly it is actually a Windows handle limit that is hit. You
can use AutoClose to support a large number of databases that are not all in
use simultaneously. And, I suspect the handle limit isn't an issue at all
on 64-bit Windows. But I haven't looked into it.

Microsoft Access Database Synchronizer (ADS) RTW Help

Someone please help, Ive downloaded and instsalled Microsoft Access Database Synchronizer (ADS) RTW onto my desktop and the files have installed to C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server Compact Edition\v3.1\Sync\Access. Ive got a device running windows CE 5.0 connected to the desktop via USB. Ive installed all the necessary CAB files onto the device but how do I get the ADS working? What do I have to do with the files installed? I am fairly new to this so can someone please help me. Isnt there supose to be an option in the start menu to run the wizard, i don't seem to be getting this?

You should read the readme.doc in the C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server Compact Edition\v3.1\sync\Access folder. Specifically from page 11 and on it is explained how to get started with the sample wizard.

First, you should install .NET Compact Framework 2.0 and device cab files on the device for the Access Database Synchronization Sample Wizard.

The device cab file is in your Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server Compact Edition\v3.1\Sync\Access folder, ot is called:

sqlce.access.sample.PPC.wce5.armv4i.CAB

Install .NET Compact Framework 2.0 and copy the sqlce.access.sample.PPC.wce5.armv4i.CAB file to your Windows Mobile device (or emulator) and install it. Then it will appear under Start, Programs as stated in the readme.doc

MFC/SQL Server 8 + ODBC problems

Hi. I get the feeling ive probably not understood something fundamental but im having issues with using CRecordSet / ODBC from MFC to access data in an SQL server 8 database.

I open the database without any problems using a DSN for SQL native client. THis opens fine and is updateable. I then get a record set out using the dynaset flag. This is where the problem occurs. If i use dynaset then the record is not updateable. If I use the cursorlib for the database, then it doesnt support dynaset anyway.

Now, the question is - should i be using dynaset anyway? I am trying to develop a multi-user database application. THe problem im looking at is I have a customer records screen. If 2 users both look at the record, they both try to update the record, how do you stop this happening. What is the best way to lock the record as soon as one starts to edit it.

I thought about using a locked field to say which user is locking the record, but then you run into the problem of the system crashing and leaving a record locked perminantly.

Ive looked time and time again in books and online but cant find a good answer to this problem? dynaset seemed to be better for this than snapshot as you can get details on updates by other users.

Any information would be great.

Check the CanUpdate property of CRecordset. Most likely it will return FALSE. Then bring up your query, and we’ll see if we can make it updateable.

Yes - i use the CanUpdate to decide that the recordset is indeed not updateable. The query is simply a get all from a table so the sql in hte GetDefaultSQL() is return _T("[tblClients]");. It does seem there is a problem with using dynaset records. Ive now rewritten the application to use snapshot instead.

Let’s figure out first why your dynaset is not updatable. I need you to clarify a few things:

1. Does table tblClients have a primary key?

2. If you have single client that opens a dynaset from that table, is that dynaset updatable or not?

3. Do you pass any options to CRecordset.Open()?

4. Do you override DoFieldExchange() or DoBulkFieldExchange()?

If you can send me the code that opens the connection, the recordset, and that tries to update, that would be helpful.

In first snapshot is the best way to use for Your application.

In second Your tabels it's must to have a cod_id for protection the records in this situation.

MetaData and FKCOLUMN_NAME

I've got a SQL Server 2000 database with a table that has two Foreign Keys.
They are declared as such in the database.
When I use the latest JDBC driver (sp3) to get the MetaData info about these
Foreign Keys, I'm runing into what appears to be a bug. Here's a snippet
code:
ResultSet rsForeignKeys = dbmd.getImportedKeys( null, null, "Recipes" );
while( rsForeignKeys.next() ) {
log.debug( "fktablename: " + rsForeignKeys.getString("FKTABLE_NAME") );

This yields the following (with Log4J prefix info ommitted):

pkcolumnename: RecipeTypeID
Notice the asterisked item above (asterisks are my own, not code generated).
The MenuSectionID is the fkcolumn name from the first FK entry but it is
show for both fk entries returned by the DBMD object. This is not correct,
the name of the second FK column for this table is "RecipeID". I have
double-checked my relationships in the database and all seems well there.
Any idea what might be going on here?

Oh duh.
I just triple-checked by db-definition and found the problem. I had a typo
in the fk definition. The DBMD object was giving me exactly the fk's exactly
as I had (incorrectly) defined them.
